Via predefined paragraph and character styles certain parts of the calendar can easily be edited, e.g. holidays or week numbers.

Yes, since version 2018, QuarkXPress can also process IDML documents. Since not all contents of an IDML document can be fully mapped, it may be necessary to adjust the layout of the calendar slightly. The content of the calendar is not affected, it is only a visual correction.

InDesign® is a layout program belonging to the company Adobe. Most designers work with it so that it can be regarded as the standard program. More information is available on the Website of producer.

You can open the template with Adobe® InDesign® in the following versions: CS4, CS5, CS5.5, CS6, CC, CC 2014, CC 2015, CC 2017, CC 2018, CC 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022 and 2023.

The predefined colours, character and paragraph styles help to differentiate the various elements of the calendar easily. This way it is possible, to change e.g. all working days or all holidays with only a few clicks.

1. Open the IDML file in InDesign® and save it as a regular InDesign® file (.indd)
2. Adapt the size of the document by clicking in the menue on File / Document Setup and type in the dimensions
3. Make sure to accordingly adapt the text framework
4. Do you already have a wall calendar which was made with Adobe® InDesign® and you want to keep its appearance? Then import the paragraph and character styles by clicking on the character styles palette on Load Character Style or by clicking on the paragraph styles palette on Load Paragraph Styles. Then add the imported styles to the existing. No more steps are required.
5. Choose in the menue Type / Find Font. Replace the default font Myriad with a font of your choice. Check the field »Change all« also re-defines styles, to implement your font into the paragraph and character styles
6. Change the predefined colours in the colour palette according to your wishes
7. Edit the paragraph styles for working days, Saturdays, Sundays and holidays according to your wishes
8. Edit the character styles for day numbers, week days and calendar weeks according to your wishes
9. Tip: You already have an InDesign® file from your last calendar? Just import the paragraph and character styles from your old calendar

The background areas adjust dynamically to the column width and are therefore defined by a paragraph style.

• Open the paragraph style of a day, for example "Saturday" or "Sunday"
• Navigate to the section "Underline options"

The background area was defined as underline. By specifying the thickness and offset, you can now change the position of the surface as well as the color and, if necessary, the type.

You can change the colours of the day digits and day names using their character formats. They are named with "day digits" and "day information". There you will find the setting for the color in the »Character Colour« tab. You cannot create a new colour there, however, because this can only be done using the colour palette.

The global definition of a country or a language is automatically preselected for all the other options which require a country or a language, if the information is provided. This way you can transfer the once made settings to all other options with only a few clicks.

If you see an empty rectangle instead of letters (e.g. ▯), this means that the font, which is needed for displaying the letters, is not activated on your pc.

You can define a font style and a colour for each option. This setting is assigned to the various paragraph and character formats so that you do not need to set anything further when editing the calendar template in InDesign. These settings are optional.

Some of the options are related because they share a certain format. If you change a setting there, it will also change in the linked options.

In general, you don't get a layout or design with Calidario, just the calendar you have configured. It is the "raw data" of a calendar. All visual adjustments, for example designing according to an existing corporate design, embedding images or logos, are possible afterwards. The calendar template is an open, editable InDesign document.
