Protocol on Updates to Calidario’s Calendar Data as of August 1, 2026.

For all of Calidario’s calendar services — and thus for all of our customers — the underlying calendar data is the be-all and end-all. That is why we place special emphasis on maintaining our own data sets and documenting their sources and update dates. To ensure the greatest possible transparency regarding our work and the calendar information, we report at irregular intervals on the changes we have made.

Additions to the Calidario Data API

• The new public holiday identifier NEW_YEAR_DATE has been added.
• The new public holiday identifier BANK_HOLIDAY has been added.
• New school holidays have been added for all nine Austrian federal states (Burgenland, Carinthia, Lower Austria, Upper Austria, Salzburg, Styria, Tyrol, Vorarlberg and Vienna), including autumn holidays, Christmas holidays, mid-term holidays, Easter holidays, Whitsun holidays and summer holidays for the 2026/2027 and 2027/2028 school years.
• A new public holiday Jura de la Constitución Nacional (Constitution Day) has been added for Paraguay.
• A new public holiday День програміста (Programmer’s Day) has been added for Ukraine.
• A new public holiday Festa nazionale di San Francesco d'Assisi has been added for Italy.
• A new public holiday День румунської мови в Україні (Romanian Language Day) has been added for Ukraine.
• A new public holiday Ngày Văn hóa Việt Nam (Vietnamese Culture Day) has been added for Vietnam.
• A new public holiday Eid al-Wahda (Unity Day) has been added for Morocco.
• A new public holiday День Сил безпілотних систем Збройних Сил України has been added for Ukraine.
• A new public holiday San Esteban has been added for Spain, applicable to Catalonia and the Balearic Islands.
• A new public holiday Pentecost has been added for Italy.
• A new public holiday San Silvestro has been added for Italy.
• 34 new districts (provinces and centrally administered cities) have been added for Vietnam, including Hà Nội, Thành phố Hồ Chí Minh and Đà Nẵng.
• For Paraguay, 18 new districts (departments) have been added, including Asunción, Central and Alto Paraná.
• For Morocco, 12 new administrative areas (regions) have been added, including Casablanca-Settat and Rabat-Salé-Kénitra.
• For Japan, 16 new states (prefectures) have been added, including Osaka, Tokyo and Saitama.
• For Norway, 15 new federal states (counties) have been added, including Oslo, Vestland and Trøndelag.
• For Hungary, six new federal states (regions) have been added, including Közép-Dunántúl and Dél-Alföld.
• Eight new federal states (regions) have been added for Slovakia, including Bratislavský kraj and Košický kraj.
• New week names have been added for the Greek spoken in Cyprus (el-cy) and the Turkish spoken in Cyprus (tr-cy).
• New month names have been added for the Greek spoken in Cyprus (el-cy) and the Turkish spoken in Cyprus (tr-cy).

Updates to the Calidario Data API

• Numerous Bulgarian places have been renamed using their short adjectival forms; for example, Бургас / Burgas became Бургаска.
• The description of the Bulgarian public holiday Бъдни вечер (Christmas Eve) has been corrected by removing a trailing space.
• The source references and data for several entries on Austrian school holidays have been updated and now link to the official website of the Austrian Ministry of Education.
• The end date of the Christmas holidays school holidays for Vorarlberg in Austria has been updated to 6 January 2028.
• The descriptions of several Spanish public holidays have been updated to reflect their official names; for example, Fiesta de la Comunidad Autónoma has been changed to Fiesta de Castilla y León, and Día Internacional de los Trabajadores has been changed to Día del Trabajo.
• The source references for numerous Spanish public holidays have been updated and now cite official government or reference sources.
• The descriptions of several Italian public holidays have been updated; for example, Lunedì dell'Angelo has been changed to Lunedì di Pasqua and Tutti i Santi to Ognissanti.
• The source references for several Italian public holidays have been updated and now link to the Italian government’s official website.
• The descriptions and source references for several American public holidays have been updated, including Washington's Birthday, Martin Luther King Day, Memorial Day, Labour Day, Columbus Day and Thanksgiving.
• The description of the French public holiday Fête du travail has been updated to Fête du Travail.
• The language code for the entry on the Romansh names of the days of the week and names of the months has been corrected from rm-rm to rm-ch.

Additional Changes to the Calidario Data API

• The Spanish public holidays Fiesta de la Candelaria, San Isidro and Día de las Letras Gallegas have been removed.
• The Italian public holidays Festa del papà, Festa della mamma and Sa die de sa Sardigna have been removed.
• The public holiday identifier NEW_YEAR_DATE has been linked to the public holidays for New Year’s Day in a number of countries, including Germany, France, Spain, Italy, Poland and Ukraine.
• The public holiday identifier BANK_HOLIDAY has been linked to several German public holidays, including New Year’s Day, Good Friday, Easter Monday, Labour Day, Ascension Day, Whit Monday, German Unity Day, Christmas Eve, both days of Christmas, and New Year’s Eve.
• The public holiday identifier CHRISTMAS_DATE has been linked to the new Spanish public holiday San Esteban.
• The public holiday identifier PENTECOST_DATE has been linked to the new Italian public holiday Pentecoste.

As a result of this widespread use, we have a structured, up-to-date, and extensively validated dataset.
